Meadowlark Portraits started with Frank and his black cat, Baboo, in Lawrence, Kansas. Baboo is our studio cat, and every example portrait on this site is him, made from Frank's own photo.

We named the shop for the western meadowlark, the Kansas state bird, often heard singing from a fence post.

We make your portrait the way we made Baboo's: from one good photo, with a preview you approve before anything prints.

Questions

What kind of photo works best?

One where your pet's face fills most of the picture, the eyes are sharp, and the light comes from a window rather than a flash. A JPEG or PNG up to 10 MB.

Can I ask for changes?

Yes. You see a preview first, and you can ask for changes up to 3 times at no cost. We only print once you approve it.

How much is shipping, and how long does it take?

Shipping in the US is included in every price. The order page shows when your preview will be ready and when your portrait should arrive. You get a tracking link once it ships.

Which size should I pick?

The order page hangs each size over a 7-foot sofa, drawn to scale. A 12" x 16" suits a shelf or a small wall; 24" x 32" holds a wall on its own.

What happens to my photo?

It is stored privately and used only to make your portrait. If you leave checkout without paying, the photo is deleted within 3 days.
